Marathe has worked on some of the landmark movies in malayalam such as Uppu. A Gujarati by birth,he has lived in Kerala for several decades.
Recepient of the prestigious Basheer Puraskaaram in 2007, he has been getting the much needed attention from various places though a bit late in life. An April 2008 article in The Hindu mentions the magnanimity of the Kerala Government in awarding him a house.
