Sithara Krishnakumar

Sithara Krishnakumar is a playback singer who has sung about 60 film songs in all 4 South Indian languages. An active Ghazal singer and a stage performer who has lead more than a hundred live shows so far, both in the country and abroad. She has been doing fusion shows and Jamming with various famous bands of Kerala.

A classical singer by learning, Sithara Krishnakumar has been trained by eminent masters such as Palai C.K Ramachandran, Ustad Fayaz Khan and Kalamandalam Vinodini since childhood which has helped her shape a responsible approach towards Indian music and its cultural tradition, Sithara has tried to bridge between various schools and generations of music in the South.

As a singer, her singing experience with various South Indian composers like Ilayaraja, Rajamani, Ouseppachan, M Jayachandran, G.V Prakash Kumar, Shareth, Alfonse Joseph, Majo Joseph, Gopi Sunder, etc. has helped her significantly mark her genuine approach towards music among the masses.

She is also a winner of some of the significant music awards like "Swaralaya Kairali Yesudas Award" in 2004, "Mohammed Rafi Memorial Award" in 2011, "Vayalar Samskaarika Vedi Award" in 2011, "Baburaj Memorial Award for best Female Singer" in 2002, etc. and twice winner of "Kalaathilakam" title in the Calicut University Arts Festival (2005 and 2006). Sithara is also a very popular face in Malayalam TV Channels as she won First prize in 4 reality shows: Asianet - Saptha swarangal - 2004, Kairali TV - Gandharva Sangeetham (Seniors) - 2004, Jeevan TV - Voice - 2004, 2 Crore Apple Mega stars - 2008
