TV Rathnam
TV Ratnam was born to Valli Nayakam Pillai and Avudai Ammal in Thenkasi.
Her father was a singer and Rathnam grew up hearing the songs sung by her father. She started learning Classical Music from Ramalinga Achari at the age of 7. She did her first classical Concert in Sri Lanka when she was 10 years old. In 1940, she acted and sang in Bhakthachetha, a Tamil Film produced by Madras United Artist Corporation and Directed by K. Subramaniam.
