CS Rao

Son of Veteran director C Pullayya, CS Rao( Chittajalli Srinivasa Rao) was born in Kakkinada dt of Andhra Pradesh in 1924. Having directed more than 70 films in various South Indian languages and especially in Telugu, he was one amongst the most popular directors of his time. He was also an accomplished actor and writer. He is best known as the director of the magnum opus movie of Telugu Cinema Lava Kusha (1963) that ran full house for a whole year.
CS Rao began his association with the movies as a child actor, acting in his father's movies. His directorial debut was in Tamil directing the movie Ponni in 1953. Famous Malayalam movie director Sethu Madhavan was once his assistant.
He left his first wife and went to marry the popular actress of yesteryears Rajasulochana and had two children with her.
He passed away in Chennai on 8th Dec 2004.
