Socraties K Valath

Socraties K Valath Chukku was born to the Mr. VVK Valath and Krishodari. He is a Short-story writer, Novelist, Television Journalist, Ad-film maker, Documentary director and Screenplay writer in Malayalam. Socraties writes short stories in all the leading magazines and weeklies in Malayalam. He has published a short story collection by SPCS Kottayam. The second collection of 15 stories is under printing by Mathrubhoomi Books, Calicut. He has also written a novel.

Socraties has prepared crime stories for the programme, "Crime File" (Surya TV and Jeevan TV), business features for the programmes "Vipani" (Doordarshan), "Business Watch" (Asianet) and agro-based features for the programe "haritha Keralam" (Jeevan TV). He has also written screenplay for the TV serial "Adaaminte Santathikal" (Asianet). Socraties has also written and directed a 30-minute short film: "And The Fight Goes On..." about Mr. M P Anilkumar, former fighter pilot of India.

He is the winner of the Kerala State Television Award for the best children’s film in 2003 (‘Harappa to Pokhran’ - A 30 minute documentary about the scientific achievements of India from the Harappan period to modern times). He has also won the ad-club award of 1998 for one minute commercial film on MSE Cattlefeed.

Socraties has written screenplay for the malayalam movies, Thaavalam and KQ.

He is at present preparing the screenplay for a malayalam movie based on his own story. He currently lives in North Paravur near Kochi.
