AV Vasudevan Potti
AV Vasudevan Potti was born on October 25, 1951 to N Vasudevan Potti of Athiman Illam and Devaki Antharjanam of Mannarashala Illam. He started writing poetry for periodicals since the age of 19.
In 1989, he wrote the songs for his first music album Mannarashala Nagasthuthikal. This was followed by Tatwamasi, an album with devotional songs of Lord Ayyappa. His lyrics for the album Devigeetham earned him a foremost position among writers of devotional songs.
In 1995, he made his entry into Malayalam film music with ‘En Jeevane’ that he wrote for the movie Kaakkakkum Poochakkum, which had music composed by Raveendran. This was followed by the songs that he wrote for Kannanum Khaderum Kannamangalathu and Aala. He still pens devotional songs.
Vasudevan Potti who retired from the Railways as Chief Ticket Examiner now lives in Palakkad.
